The Catalog for Giving was created especially for people like you – people who want to make a deep and lasting difference in kids’ lives; people who believe in the power of creativity; people who love New York and want to make it a great place to live – not only for themselves, but for everyone.

Our promise to you is to use your generosity to transform the lives of kids in our city who are affected by poverty, crime, abuse and drugs. Here’s how:

• Every dollar you give goes directly to support ten grass-roots organizations that are using innovative approaches to give disadvantaged young people a chance at a better future—the expenses of operating the Catalog are fully funded by our board of directors. From programs that teach young people how to reach repressed feelings and turn them into powerful voices in their lives to a skating rink in Harlem, the groups we support are not your everyday charities – they’re truly breaking new ground by inventing better ways of helping kids.
• We fund these organizations over a three-year period to help them grow from early success to self-sufficiency and sustainability.
• We select the "best of the best" from hundreds of applications after a rigorous process that includes site visits by our board and detailed financial reviews.
• Thousands of kids are being helped right now by the programs we support - and more than 150,000 have been helped during our 15 years in existence. We're a small organization making a big difference.
